Matt thrives on problem-solving, no matter how unique the solution needs to be. Taking care of people — at work and at home — is the point. The company began as residential service work and grew into full-scale remodeling because clients kept asking for more of the same care, at a larger scale.

We are continuously educating the team in tried-and-true methods, incorporating new products, and pushing industry standards. In addition to adding comfort, beauty, and value to your home, we want you to enjoy the remodel with as few disruptions as possible to your normal routine.

Owner & lead designer

Matt Waite

You'll find Matt in cowboy boots and well-worn jeans most days (he is not a cowboy). He acquired his first pneumatic nail gun at thirteen and used it to build a box out of pallet material. As a kid he cut pictures of mantels, casings, and sill profiles from every home magazine he could find — training an eye for fine detail, not for what was being sold. He worked with his father, an electrician, then with trim carpenters, excavators, and everyone in between. At nineteen he started a small company doing residential service work in the Chicago suburbs. That company is MW Craftsman, Inc.

Field technician

Cosmin

Cos joined in 2021. If we need to read the directions and figure something out, Cos is on it. A background in electrical work, building maintenance, and high-end hospitality means he watches the final product and the quality of the experience. Off the job he is an accomplished chef, always sharing the work with his wife and their pooch, Scout.

Operations

Andres

Andres came recommended by a subtrade. We spoke briefly on the phone and that is still how we work — make a plan, go to work. He is the glue: tool repairs, equipment, every onsite detail. Kind, day in and day out. Off hours belong to his wife and daughter.

Brand & systems

Becky

Becky was brought on as a “HELP!” and took the brand in both hands: website, photography, social, graphic design, and the customer experience. She also holds a great many internal systems. Based in Virginia, we have yet to fully sell her on moving back to the windy-city winters.

A personal note from Matt

“My wife and I enjoy hosting friends for dinner. Complex flavors, smoked meats in the backyard — we love to host. Sweets really are my weakness. If I had to choose where to spend any given day, it would be on a boat in the water with my wife.”
